My Focus was all Wrong

Why did I never see this before?

☕Every morning I sit & have my coffee in ‘My Happy Place’ Gazebo I created for ME TIME.

[The full details of this special place & how I created it is for another blog.]

I sit to do my grounding work, using my sense of hearing to filter out all the external sounds & noise in my environment & the internal noise of thoughts running through my head. I focus right down, just to listen to each individual bird song around me. When I have established my focus, I move to my breathwork. Deep, conscious, connected breaths. In & out through the nose, bypassing the throat & chest, visualising it straight down to my tummy. Feeling it rise and fall. Calming and resetting my nervous system, training my body to soothe itself, ready for the day ahead. Healthy right?? Well, I thought so....

BUT...

⚠️Before & after this, while drinking my coffee I was making a HUGE mistake.

From where I sit, in my line of sight, down the bottom end of the garden was an ever increasing mess. The trampoline that the children no longer used was taking up so much of my garden, but it was redundant. The area underneath became a dumping ground, overrun & ugly. Wooden pallets for projects I had run out of time or interest to finish, piled up in the corner. Life was steadily getting busier & busier, uglier & uglier & I was looking straight at it all on a daily basis. I wasn't doing anything about my present NOW time mess, just letting it fester there.

⚡Today, was a lightning moment, today I happened to look up..

🌳I saw the apple tree had started to shoot, I swore that wasn’t there yesterday, but of course it was. I just hadn’t noticed. The neighbour’s tree that I curse in Autumn & Winter prolifically shedding branches over my garden, that I have to regularly clean up after, that I then shove & add to the mess under the trampoline... Today, I noticed it also was shooting.

🌿Spring was here.

💣Then, a bombshell.

The tree I curse so much, was one of my beloved trees from the woods I love so much, the white bark I photograph so often on my daily walks with Bobby Dog. I had never seen it properly. For someone who started my photography and coaching businesses based on the idea of looking at life with fresh eyes, truly seeing the beauty around us & within us & naming both businesses on this to see 'C through my eyes' I had not seen this fact the 4 years of owning this house.

📢 I had completely overlooked this positive & only saw the negative. That stops from today. My green fingered mother is down visiting for Easter, so we went outside and I used her knowledge to come up with ideas. I jumped into action, with help from the internet to plan for the future. I have mapped out a beautiful meadow area of wild flowers and behind that a veg garden. ... I can repurpose the trampoline mat as a weed mat, some of the frame for climbing peas/beans, the pallets for raised beds and walkways.

By using discarded parts from the past, addressing the messiness of the present, I can plan positively for the future.

What resources were available to help achieve this? My mother, the internet, things from my past

It's all about where you focus your eyes, your time, your energy

Time for my catchphrase, clients who have worked with me in the past know this only too well...

Photo story board so far.....will add updates as it progresses

As you can see Maxwell Smart the Cat is NOT happy his beloved trampoline has gone.

He loved to sunbathe there, or quietly sit staring down the birds
